Spring Hikes 2015!

Members get it free! What a welcome phrase.  Have you joined Colorado National Monument Association (CNMA)? For 51 years, Colorado National Monument Association has been the official partner and friend of Colorado National Monument – the 25th (of over 400) Unit of the National Park Service.  CNMA is a cooperating association whose sole purpose is to support educational programs and research activities in the park and to provide interpretive and educational materials to park visitors.  CNMA fulfills its mission to provide financial support to Colorado National Monument by managing store operations in the Visitor Center, providing a membership program with yearly dues, and accepting donations.

So, what do members get free?

Colorado National Monument Association Spring 2015 Events

Wildflower, Geology and Cultural Hike on Black Ridge and CCC Trails

Thursday, April 30 or Saturday, May 2, 9:00 AM.

Join geologist Don Regan and botanist Jeanne Wenger and learn about the Monument’s geology and natural history. Approximately 3 hours. One-way hike, moderately strenuous. Please wear hiking shoes and bring water, snacks, hat, and sunscreen. We will shuttle cars from the start so carpooling would be very advantageous. Limited to15 people. Registration required. Register by calling 858-3617 ext. 308 or emailing info@coloradonma.org. If raining, the hike will be cancelled because the trail is treacherous when wet! Cost: Admission to enter Colorado National Monument is $10 per vehicle – free to pass holders. This hike is free to CNMA members, $5.00 for non-members. Wildflower Photography Hike Along No Thoroughfare Trail, Sunday, May 3, 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Join local photographer Donna Fullerton and hike back into No Thoroughfare to the second waterfall, and take wildflower and landscape pictures along the way. We will be stopping at the waterfall to take some photographs, using a tripod for long exposure. Bring your camera, wear hiking shoes, and bring water and snacks. Limited to 15 people. Register by calling 858-3617 extension 308 or emailing info@coloradonma.org . Cost: This hike is free to CNMA members. Admission to enter Colorado National Monument is $10 per vehicle – free to pass holders.

Corkscrew / Liberty Cap Hike with Donna King Tuesday, May 5, 10:00 AM

This hike is limited to 10 persons, adults only, no-one under 18. Reservations required.

Experienced hikers are invited to join local hiking expert Donna King on Liberty Cap Trail and the Corkscrew Trail Loop. Register by emailing info@coloradonma.org or calling 858-3617 X 308. Please wear hiking shoes and dress in layers. Bring water, snacks, sunscreen. Walking sticks or trek poles are advised. Free to CNMA members, $5 for non-members
