2015 Spring Walks & Talks Schedule

The Colorado National Monument Walks and Talks Program is produced by the Colorado National Monument Association in cooperation with the Colorado National Monument.Local geologists,naturalists and volunteers lead hikes and informative events. You are invited to participate in programs covering such diverse topics as geology, wildflower identification, photography, astronomy and star gazing, music under the red rocks, and much more. Fees for CNMA members and non-members are noted with each individual walk or talk listing.

There is an entrance fee of $10 per vehicle to Colorado National Monument or use your Annual Pass. These programs fill very quickly and will be announced to the public as well; call 970-858-3617, ext. 360 to reserve your space today. 

Saturday, April 18

Spring is here, and the cactus flowers will soon be in bloom. Join “Cactus Man” Don Campbell for a PowerPoint presentation and learn how to identify a variety of cacti, succulents, and other desert plants. After the presentation, Don will answer questions, then the group will head out to the native garden in front of the visitor center to take a look at the native plants growing.

When: Saturday, April 18 at 11 AM or Thursday, April 21 at 2 PM (Call to clarify date).

Where: Colorado National Monument Visitor Center Auditorium.

Open to: Everyone.

Cost: Admission to enter Colorado National Monument is $10 per vehicle – free to passholders.

Admission to the Cactus Talk program is free to members of the Colorado National Monument Association, $5 each for non-members. ($12 for families.) Membership starts at $30 – join Colorado National Monument Association (CNMA) at the program and get free admission.
